TORCH Offers Exciting Line-up for Holiday of Shavuot

Beginning at sunset on Tuesday, May 18th, the Holiday of Shavuot, which commemorates the day that the Jewish people received the Torah at Mt. Sinai, begins. One of the many customs involved with Shavuot is that of staying up late into the night learning. This year as in previous years, TORCH has created an exciting schedule of classes that will be offered for Shavuot night learning throughout the city.

A few of the many highlights of the evening include: The Jewish Perspective on Offshore Oil Drilling, given by Rabbi Yossi Grossman, (11:45 p.m. at Meyerland Minyan), Learning the Art of Appreciation through Kabbalat HaTorah, offered by Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe (4:00 a.m. at Beit Rambam), and a BBQ under the stars at 2:15 a.m. with the late night learners at Meyerland Minyan. There will also be several, inspiring classes taught by TORCH rabbis at Torah Vachesed and Young Israel of Houston throughout the night.
