Beth Tikvah Now Hosting TORCH Classes

TORCH is excited to announce the formation of a new partnership in the Shalhevet program. Temple Beth Tikvah (TBT) in Clear Lake will offer TORCH classes on Sunday April 29 and May 6 at 10:00AM. TBT's Rabbi Deborah Schloss began her relationship with TORCH by attending a TORCH class in another congregation. She was so excited about the experience that she knew she had to offer this to her congregants as well. Shalhevet , a division of TORCH, is a congregational partnership program that brings TORCH classes into existing congregations as an adjunct to what is already being offered there. These programs serve to strengthen the congregations by affording members more opportunities for learning and connection. Their welcoming and non-judgmental approach empowers participants to grow and increase their Jewish involvement both in synagogue life and within the greater Jewish community. These programs are well attended, generally with at least 20 or more weekly attendees and frequently including as many as 40 50 students. Classes are vibrant, participatory and low cost. The first session at every congregation is always no charge. One does not need to be a member of the congregation where these classes are held. Current participating congregations in the Shalhevet program are Congregation Brith Shalom, Congregation Beth El, Congregation Bet Rambam, Congregation Shaar Hashalom, Congregation Torah Vachesed, Houston Congregation for Reform Judaism, Meyerland Minyan, Temple Beth Torah and Young Israel of Houston.
